Daido Moriyama's archives from his trip to Hokkaido in 1978 brought back to life after sleeping for 30 years, almost never seen before 2008.

本作は、1978 年以降ずっとネガのまま眠っていた北海道の写真が収録されており、そのほとんどが初公開の作品です。森山大道「北海道」展はラットホールギャラリーにて開催（12/19 ～ 2/8）。限定1,500 部
東京での生活に“ 一種倦怠というか肉離れ” を感じていた森山は、そんな状態から逃れるため、三ヶ月という期限付きで札幌にアパートを借り、北海道の町々を撮り歩きます。そこには、明治初期、田本研造と北方写真師たちの手による北海道開拓の写真に対する思いが大きく影響していました。「撮ることだけが僕の日課だった。・・・撮れば撮るほど、北海道の地が際限なく広がって行くような、まるでヌエをつかむような無力感、焦燥感にとらわれ、いらだったり、反対に居直ってみたり。」
This work is composed of recorded photographs of Hokkaido that had been sleeping as negative films since 1978, most of which are release for the first time to public. Moriyama Daido "Hokkaido" exhibition was held at the Rat Hole Gallery (12 to 19 - February 2008). Limited 1,500 copies
Moriyama who felt "a kind of muscular fatigue" of his life in Tokyo, borrows an apartment in Sapporo with a time limit of three months and took pictures of the cities of Hokkaido. There was a great influence on the photograph of Hokkaido pioneered by hands of Tamoto Kenzo and northern photographers in the early Meiji era. "The only thing I did was my daily routine... the more I take the picture, the more the land of Hokkaido will spread unlimitedly, i was feeling frustrated of not succeeding in grabbing his nudity, got irritated of trying overrunning, helplessly.
